Inspiration: The Row Pre-Fall 2014

I know, I know! We’re not even in summer and we already have to think about fall? At least with the weather here it is unbearable to think about this kind of clothing yet, but with my upcoming trip this week to a somewhat cooler place, where spring/summer is not what I’m used to, inspiration is needed! Browsing through designer collections is one of my favorite sources of inspiration, so when one of my favorites came up, I decided to share it with you.

If it were up to me, i’d wear The Row head to toe frequently. All the collections, every single one of them is so breathtaking. The cuts, the colors, accessories, everything is so wearable, and seems so comfortable and so real it is hands down one of the best (in my opinion) every year.

About this particular collection I love the choice of the models, nice, fresh idea to only use mid-age, older models, clothes look just as special and beautiful as in a younger one. I also love the use of the camel color in this collection, the longer skirts, and the footwear, the flat mules I would so love to wear them, a great alternative to loafers and flats.

With this in mind, I know feel more inspired to go back to thicker garments for a few days.

Spring 2014: Outfit 46

Trini Acne shirt The Kooples skirtTrini Chanel flap black outfitTrini black outfit chanel bag   Today i’m in an all black outfit again! But quite opposite to last week’s. Today is all about casualness and comfort and relaxed vibes. Yesterday I was watching the first episode of Downton Abbey, a series I have wanted to watch for ages, but caught in between The Killing, Girls, Looking and Breaking Bad, I had not time for a fifth one. Finally I finished three out of those four and decided to start a new one. I was not expecting to find such great quotes and one instantly got my attention: “No one wants to kiss a girl in black”. Right away I was reminded about Coco Chanel, specially because the series is happening in the same era, and all I could think of is how Chanel would have said exactly the opposite. Then I went even further and just thought about how many times we sober girls, and I bet some of you my lovely readers have heard this more than once, get the “boring” adjective in reference to our outfits. To me all black outfits, and in general soberness is underrated of course, always will be, but it also is everything but boring! The fun factor does not lie on colors, it lies on so much more elements such as fabrics, cuts, details. I do understand though that only people with a sharp eye can see it, and that is the minority all along. So therefore probably the “Kardashians” of the world (sorry I could not think of anything tackier at the moment) will probably always be more appealing to the masses than the “Cocos”.

I’m wearing: Ray-Ban wayfarer sunglasses, Acne Studios t-shirt, The Kooples skirt, Adidas Gazelle sneakers via Zalando.es and Chanel bag. bloglovin

One of the things I brought home with me from Los Angeles, my Dodgers t-shirt! I love it so so much! I wore it today quite casually with one of my black suit trousers that I can’t live without. At least here it’s a little bit hot for trousers but these are more lightweight (thats’s why I own a few, different thickness for different weather) so it’s more approppiate for this temperature.

Please excuse the lighting of these pictures, I tried to fix them, but this is as far as I could go.

I’m wearing: Ray-Ban sunglasses, Los Angeles Dodgers t-shirt, The Kooples suit trousers, Salt Water sandals and Louis Vuitton Sofia Coppola bag.

I have good news! For all of you asking where to get my Salt Water sandals you can get them HERE.

Already, we are having summer weather here in Madrid (even though it’s raining right now).  It has been so hot lately I was forced to slip in my summer clothes, today i’m wearing one of my favorite summer dresses. Stripes of course! Classic, and so easy to wear. I love the shape of this dress (which wasn’t originally this length, another of my alterations) this type of round neck sleeveless garments are so perfect, the fit almost everyone and make arms look nicer. The wideness of this dress makes it so comfortable and free to move in, and of course it allows your skin to breathe something we all thank for during hot months. In general I see so many advantages on this dress that of course I would suggest it, to anyone.

Unfortunately it is from last summer so it’s no longer available, but I have a few similar suggestions for you.

-THIS DRESS by Fred Perry is lovely, short sleeved but with a similar shape.

-THIS DRESS is virtually a copy of mine, instead of navy stripes it has black stripes. No offense, but of course I would never buy this dress, it completely goes against my main principle when shopping, less quantity and more quality. But if you don’t care about quality and want something disposable, go ahead.

-THIS DRESS by Marc by Marc Jacobs is gorgeous and has a beautiful shape, again similar to mine somewhat more rigid and structured, with lovely light blue stripes. You can find more cute blue prom dresses online.

Now to what i’m wearing. Click on the name of the brand to purchase the item.

Ray-Ban sunglasses, Wood Wood dress, Superga sneakers and Louis Vuitton Sofia Coppola bag.

I wore it so much last summer and during Christmas holidays in South America and certainly will keep wearing it this summer. Same goes for my white Superga sneakers that might need to be replaced very soon.
