SPRING SUMMER 2015 TREND FORECAST

As we step into a new season it is the time to analyze the trends we will be seeing and why not make a discussion about it.

One of the things I learned at the university, is trend forecast, and of course that can be done right after the shows in fashion week we don’t need to wait until the clothes hit the stores, in fact we can even predict them before fashion week, with years in advance. In my opinion anyone can do it as there is a common sense and a storyline to the way fashion evolves, so all you really need, is to pay attention. What can be more unpredictable really, is how they evolve, how different people combine them, adapt them, etc, and if this trend will remain and turn into a classic or if this trend will in fact vanish with horror (vanish sound) like the wedge sneakers did.

BUCKET BAGS: In my opinion this trend has been present for a long time, I think the re-launch of the Louis Vuitton Noé bags around 2012/2013 started it, and a few months later… we were already facing a trend. Then Mansur Gavriel label decided to re-do that bag with colorful interiors, and after that well every designer decided, you know what? We are gonna do it too. And so now, you can find a bucket bag absolutely anywhere you want, with tiny, different variations, but a the end it is a bucket bag.

Now at this point the trend should be dying and it is not, so I am certain it will now join the classics hall of fame, just like many trends before: boyfriend jeans, kitten heels, midi skirts, etc. (Let’s not forget all classics started out as trends). I think this is a great one, a lovely type of bag, so comfortable and down to earth that it was kind of natural to become a permanent thing.

CHOKERS: What can I say? I don’t really care about them at all! In my opinion they have always been present in a way or another, and that they are big now, well, could be visually dangerous. Accessories tend to do a lot of visual damage, they can powerfully destroy an outfit and make it just too much in a more evident way than clothing can, so I would stay away of this one, unless it is a classic silver/gold piece, with no additions.

SEVENTIES: There is something interesting about this era, even though it is not my favorite, and I think what is interesting about it, is the evolution of the stylish people and fashion icons of the sixties. How did they survive a somewhat extravagant period? Some items from this era, are beautiful of course, but I am not specially fond of it in general terms. Yes to long hair and flow dreamy dresses, no to anything disco and mens long hair dos.

What do you think?

CHOKERS: Que puedo decir?

Spring 2014: Outfit 30

The Kooples white top fashion blogger TriniBaby Collar Top Fashion Blogger TriniCOS Midi Skirt Fashion Blogger TriniBag Chanel Fashion Blogger TriniJimmy Choo Heels Fashion Blogger Trini

Today i’m in a grannish mood! I know my late grandmother would be in love with this outfit in fact this is pretty much what she always wore: white shirts, navy skirts and black mid heels with a black bag. She was one of the most refined/stylish women I have ever met and unconsciously she became a great influence to me, specially fashion-wise.

I don’t think we become aware at times how our surroundings specially our family and the way we are brought up influences our taste and vision in fashion but as I have become older I have realized how those things play a big part, wanted or not. No matter how much I experimented with fashion as a teenager I always come back to resemble the women in my family and how they dressed: sober, classic and as natural as possible.

I’m wearing: Ray-Ban sunglasses, The Kooples top, COS skirt, Jimmy Choo kitten heels, and Chanel bag.
