This Elizabeth and James collection is just wonderful. It follows a lot of The Row’s aesthetics, which is kind of obvious since the brand belongs to the Olsen twins as well. I love the fabrics, the proportions, the footwear and of course the color palette is just perfect. Wearable and just on point for a Resort collection.

Esta colección de la marca Elizabeth and James es simplemente estupenda. Sigue casi al pie de la letra la estética de The Row, lo que es bastante lógico ya que ambas firmas pertenecen a las gemelas Olsen. Me encantan las telas, las proporciones, el calzado y por supuesto la paleta de color es estupenda. Me parece muy usable y muy acertada para una colección Resort.

I have never been a fan of crop tops, I don’t know why but I tend to find most a little too much. I am aware though how it suits women with my body type, it definitely makes us look like we have more curves, so as a challenge I decided to get one and be able to style it in a way that it suited my style and wasn’t too out there. Low key is the key for me.
The results of this experiment can be found in this post. I think I might have been kind of scared without a real reason, just because I see too much 16 year olds styling it in the tackiest way does not mean it has to be tacky. I went for a monochrome look, with sneakers and I like the result very much, still simple, still low key.
Now this is part 1 of the experiment so obviously I still have to experiment how it might look with a skirt, or heels, that is much more complex I believe because it is right there when it can become a disaster, but I am up for the challenge. If it all goes well I might get a few more.

No se porqué pero no soy una gran fan de los crop tops. La verdad es que la mayoría me parecen un poco demasiado, como un intento desesperado de enseñar mas de lo adecuado. Por otro lado si soy muy consciente de que este tipo de tops dan la ilusión de tener mas curvas en mujeres con mi tipo de cuerpo por lo que a modo de desafío decidí comprarme uno y aventurarme a transformar una prenda que no me gusta en una que sí.
El resultado del experimento lo podéis ver en este post. Creo que juzgué esta prenda un poco pronto sin darle una oportunidad. Si es cierto que las niñas de 16 años lo llevan de una forma tan ordinaria y desesperada que uno tiende a asociarlo inmediatamente con la vulgaridad, pero eso no significa que sea vulgar en si. Me decidí por este conjunto negro con zapatillas y la verdad me gusta mucho el resultado, simple y sutil.
Ahora bien, esta es solo la primera parte del experimento y obviamente me queda la parte mas compleja que es combinarlo con falda y/o tacones y es ahí donde esta el gran desafío porque cuando se combina con estas prendas es cuando mas facilidad hay de que se convierta en vulgar y exuberante, pero de igual forma estoy dispuesta a aceptar mi desafío personal y encontrar una forma de que siga mi estilo.

Culottes…what can I say, I totally adore them, they are this very amazing style of trousers that is in my opinion becoming a new classic. Why? Because they are comfortable, they suit almost any figure, and they mix well with everything…all the elements you find in long time classics, so why not?

Culottes…que puedo decir, la verdad es que me encantan, son un tipo de pantalón estupendo y en mi opinión van de camino a convertirse en un clásico. Por que? Porque son extremadamente cómodos, le sientan bien a todo tipo de mujer y como si fuera poco, van de maravilla combinados com lo que sea.

Today I am wearing my new culottes by 3.1 Phillip Lim. I had wanted a pair of culottes since last summer, but to be honest I did not find a pair that was worth investing in. So as I always do I waited for the perfect pair rather than going for the first one I saw, and it was all worth it. I can not begin to explain how perfect these are, the quality is beyond fabulous and the material is perfect for year round. When investing in any garment of clothing we must not forget how long can we actually wear it, to determine if it is really worth it, summer only garments are not the most ideal to invest in, so we must keep an extra eye in this situations and not forget to pay attention.
For it’s first outing I decided to wear my culottes with heels, there is nothing more elegant than a good pair of classic heels, and this can make an outfit be more suitable for work or even a night out. This outfit is one than can easily be worn for a date night, or even a party, but could also be consider suitable for work. You will see much more of me in them, so be prepared for different alternatives on how to make culottes be more informal or even more summer-ish.

Hoy llevo mis nuevos culottes navy. Llevo queriendo un par de ellos desde el verano pasado pero la verdad es que no daba con un par que realmente valiese la pena como para invertir en el. Así que como siempre esperé a por el par perfecto en ves de pillar lo primero que viese. La espera dio sus frutos, este maravilloso par de culottes es perfecto, tiene el largo ideal y la calidad es insuperable. Una de las cosas que mas me gustó es que no es tan ligero, lo que lo hace ideal para usarlo todo el año. Algo a tener en cuenta cuando vamos a invertir en una prenda es cuanta parte del año la podremos usar, si es solo para verano no recomiendo darle tanta relevancia como las prendas que nos permiten mas uso.
Para usarlos por primera vez decidí combinarlos con tacones, ya que no se me ocurre nada mas elegante que clásico par de tacones negros. Esto hace que el conjunto pueda usarse para ir al trabajo o también para una cena o incluso para alguna fiesta. Por supuesto veréis distintas formas de usarlo de forma mas informal y también en un conjunto completamente veraniego, como mas adelante adaptado a otras estaciones.
