Instead of showing the actual runway looks, today I decided to focus on the details. As much as I love Chanel, I am not very fond of the styling, it is very anti-Coco really, too much, always. Almost all the garments are exquisite but I think the appreciation of them gets lost with all the fuzz going on with the added elements, and sometimes even the background. And that is the case in this collection as well. Now of course what do I expect? It’s couture. But still I can find what’s classic and beautiful in it, and that is shown in these pictures, the close up, the details.

En vez de mostrar los conjuntos en la pasarela esta vez he decidido centrarme en los detalles. Por mucho que adoro Chanel, no soy muy fan de los estilismos en los defiles, es muy anti-Coco la verdad, muy recargado, siempre. Aunque casi todas las prendas son una maravilla, no pueden ser apreciadas adecuadamente con toda la fiesta de excesos distrayendo, y no voy a entrar en detalles sobre los fondos. Es el caso en casi todas las colecciones, creo que podrían salvarse unas cuantas.
Ahora por supuesto no se que esperaba, es couture. Pero aún así se pueden encontrar imágenes que reflejan elementos clásicos y todo aquello esta en los detalles.
Whenever I am traveling, I get this awful feeling of being almost naked without all my clothes around. Like in life, in outfits the more options you have the better you will feel about yourself, and the more confident your attitude will be. I hate being in a place and not being able to wear an awesome outfit because you don’t have the right shoes or bag, or whatever it is. So of course like every woman I always try my best to bring the biggest amount of clothes I can on trips. This one however I decided to do just the opposite. As little as possible, just the essentials. Since I have very few summer clothes it was an easy thing, but once here I started missing a few items. It doesn’t really matter to me know I think I have done a good job so far with so little options, it has made me re-invent certain ways of wearing my garments. The shirt I wear would have normally made a much better choice (in my head) with black, but I decided against it and ventured into monochrome blue. I have in various times done this combination, but never with such a bright blue (as the one in my shirt). I can know see how great of a choice it was and perfect option for summer, when we tend to feel a calling from our bright side.

Cuando viajo, siempre tengo esta horrible sensación de que voy desnuda por la vida sin toda mi ropa conmigo. Como en la vida, con la ropa, las mas opciones que tenemos lo mas segura de nosotras mismas que nos vamos a sentir. Detesto tener un conjunto estupendo casi listo y no poder usarlo porque me falta X bolso o Y zapatos, así que como cada mujer intento a toda costa viajar con la mayor cantidad de ropa posible. En este viaje sin embargo opte por todo lo contrario: lo mínimo y lo mas esencial posible. Como tengo muy poca ropa de verano no fue complicado, pero una vez aquí comencé a extrañar ciertas cosas. Pronto lo olvidé y ahora la verdad creo que de momento estoy haciendo un buen trabajo con la opciones que tengo. La camisa que llevo en mi cabeza iría mejor con algo negro, pero como la idea es reinventar las prendas que he traído para que den mas de si, la he combinado de una forma mas inusual para mi que es un conjunto monocromático azul. Si que he usado conjuntos azules por completo en otras ocasiones pero no con un tono de azul tan vivo como el de esta camisa. Me doy cuenta que ha sido una opción estupenda sobre todo en verano, que es cuando mas nos llaman los colores inusuales.

What I wore on NYE.
This is how we do the last celebration of the year where its hot and sunny. Little black dress, some heels and voila! No coats, no tights, and yes…sunglasses.
Now let me tell you about this gorgeous dress. It’s two years old and the case is I have worn it a lot, unfortunately I have not a single picture of me wearing it, so in this occasion I had to have my picture taken, even if they were quick ones before dinner. This dress to me is the perfect, perfect LBD. It has all the elements. It’s classy, it has a sexy touch with strong ladylike feel, also it’s very minimalist in a 90’s kind of way. Sharon Stone maybe? I would call it Audrey Hepburn meets Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. Anyhow, it just blew my mind the moment I tried it on, so of course it had to be mine. It is my go to, “fancier” but not too fancy dress, and honestly the easiest of all my dresses to wear. It even looks amazing with sneakers and flats. All I have left to say is thank you Filippa K for making such an amazing dress!

Mi conjunto para noche vieja.
Esto es lo que llevamos en el otro lado del mundo para celebrar la última noche del año. Vestido, tacones y ya! Y gafas claro porque hasta bien entrada la noche que no se pone el sol.
Ahora explicaré la historia tras este vestido. En realidad es bastante antiguo (dos años) y la verdad es que lo uso un montón. No sé porque hasta ahora no tenía foto alguna usándolo, pero esta vez lo vi necesario con todo el tema festivo y de vestidos muy propio de esta época del año. Aunque no me dio tiempo de muchas fotos, hice algunas rápidas antes de cenar.
Para mí este es el LBD perfecto. Tiene todos elementos que yo personalmente busco en esta prenda. Es clásico, elegante (pero no demasiado), tiene un toque sexy por llamarlo de alguna forma aunque odio con todo mi ser esta palabra, pero a la vez es muy femenino y de estilo minimalista pero evocando a los noventa. No se si es a Sharon Stone a quien me recuerda, pero he decidido etiquetarlo como mitad Audrey Hepburn, mitad Carolyn Bessette Kennedy (dos de mis favoritas). De cualquier forma, este vestido fue de esas prendas que al probarme, adoré. Se ha convertido en EL vestido para ocasiones que requieren algo un poco mas especial sin ser demasiado especial. Además de ser una opción genial para llevar con tacones, con zapatillas o bailarinas queda igual de bien, otra razón mas que tuve para comprarlo. Solo me queda dar las gracias a Filippa K por hacer un vestido tan perfecto!

What I wore for Christmas Eve’s dinner.
I am in summer right now, so of course I wore something lighter but a little bit more formal without being too fancy or over the top because that is just not my style. I opted for my white midi skirt from MaxMara because it is a classic, versatile piece but also super lightweight and comfortable. I could have gone fancier on the top but that is just not me. I went with a classic shirt in a beautiful light blue color because it is simple and classic without being too formal or too casual. A fact too is that I am away from home and I don’t have all my clothes with me so options are limited for me here so I don’t have much too choose from either.
Still even though being a simple outfit it was a big success I don’t know why but this skirt turns head every time I wear it, I suspect it is it’s bright white color as opposed to a an ecru that might be less shocking, but of course since it is a simple, classic garments you can be sure it turns heads in a good way as opposed to some not so classic elements (sequins, wild prints, etc).

Hice estas fotos justo antes de la cena de noche buena, así podéis ver lo que lleve para la ocasión.
Como estoy en verano por supuesto lo lógico es usar algo fresco y ligero pero también al ser noche buena algo un poco mas formal pero a la vez simple, con lo cual este conjunto se ajusta a la perfección. Opté por mi falda blanca de MaxMara con su diseño clásico y versátil y lo más importante que es ligera y perfecta para el calor. Arriba en cambio opté por un básico atemporal de lo mas simple y casual pero que en conjunto con la falda queda mas formal que de costumbre, pero en su justa medida. Como estoy lejos de casa solo tengo una cierta cantidad de ropa por lo que tampoco tengo mucho de donde elegir y al final esta fue la mejor opción y la mas cómoda.
Aún siendo un conjunto muy simple fue todo un éxito, no sé porque esta falda siempre causa sensación me imagino que es su color blanco brillante que a diferencia de un blanco cálido o un crudo llama mas la atención, pero al ser una prenda simple y clásica puedo estar tranquila que se hace notar de buena forma al contrario de lo que pudiese pasar con elementos fuertes como lentejuelas o estampados recargados.
