SUMMER READS

Fashion Blogger Trini Chanel flats Marc Jacobs sunglasses

Today I’m delighted to diverge a little bit from fashion and get into a topic than I enjoy so so much and probably never shared over here. Books.

My love for books started at the very early age of four when I learnt how to read. Yes, I was a very precocious girl, always with hunger for adventures and books were my first journey. All through my childhood, specially during the summer me and my sister would beg my parents to buy us books so we could devour them at night before going to sleep and then exchange them, then ask for more and more and more. The rest of the year I would read what was scheduled for me to read at school, some books I enjoyed greatly others not so much…but the sole act of reading meant to travel to a new world and that has always been one of my drives in life.

So each summer as I did as a kid I get my books ready to come with me wherever I might go. I want to share with you some of my favorites and would love for you to do the same, that way we can exchange titles and hopefully I can get to know some new titles/authors which I am also eager to do.

Lately I have become more of a non fiction reader so many of my titles will come from that category, but of course not all, some fiction is always good.

-The House of The Spirits by Isabel Allende

-Quiet by Susan Cain

-Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote

-The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides

-The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides

-Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert

-All Those Things We Never Said by Marc Levy

-The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

-What Remains by Carole Radziwill (currently reading and loving this one)

– Just Kids by Patti Smith

-Be My Baby by Ronnie Spector

There you go, ten…no eleven awesome books. Let me know which ones are your favorites!

ONE GARMENT, FOUR WAYS: TOPSHOP BLACK DUNGAREES

If you read my post about “How I wear: LBD Little Black Dress” you will remember how I stated how I will start to do a how I wear/one garment four ways section on my blog. As many of you know, I am a big fan of dungarees and anything really that can be worn with something underneath, it multiplies the different ways it can be worn and therefore the number of times you can wear it.

Since a lot of you having be asking about this I am today posting three different ways of wearing black dungarees (in mild weather).

The dungarees in question are by Topshop and I got them last January while in South America, most specifically in Santiago, Chile. I remember they were the only pair in the store and I was kind of doubting if I should get them or not, because they were a little big on me, and I was concerned about the quality. I was messaging my friend Omar back in Madrid and he was telling me, don’t get them, please don’t get them. I did not get them, since I had to return to the store in a few days I decided to play with fate and see what happened. If I came back and they were still there they were meant to be mine, if I returned and they were gone, then well, let them be gone. I waited a few days and I went back to the store this time with my mom and they still had them…so I tried them, mom loved it, and so I got them.

It was a great purchase because I wear them a lot…a whole big lot. And while Omar’s advice is hardly ever wrong, this time it was.

As you can see there are various ways to wearing dungarees, and wear it more on the casual side with sneakers or a little bit more classic with flats, they work just as fine. So…if you are thinking on getting your own pair…PLEASE DO! You won’t regret it.

Summer 2014: Outfit 2

Striped dress Chanel flats Chanel bags Fillipa K striped dress fashion blogger TriniChanel flats and bag Trini fashion blogger

Second summer outfit, and second time posting an outfit with this dress. It’s one of my striped dresses, one that sadly I can only wear on warmer months since it is very lightweight. I usually wear it to go to the pool or to the beach but sometimes I wear it for everyday. As any striped dress it can be paired with absolutely anything but today I chose one of my favorite pair of shoes. Chanel black flats.

I’m wearing: Ray-Ban sunglasses (Get them HERE), Filippa K striped dress, Chanel flats and bag.

How I wear: LBD Little Black Dress

I decided to start doing a few new things in my blog. One of them is the one garment, three ways (or four: one for each season). Also I came up with the idea of making a summary of my staples, how I wear them and where you can get similar items. Since the weather has been so hot lately, lets start with something you can wear all year long, but that I have been wearing a lot in hot days.

So for today: how I wear my LBD Little Black Dress in hot weather.
