I’m starting to hate summer this week, the heat is UNBEARABLE with capital letters, yes because it is! I really hate it when it gets to this point where you can’t live without air conditioner but can’t live with it because you end up sick. I miss spring or even fall so so much, really how simple is it to just wear jeans sneakers and a shirt?

Today some inspiration: Isabel Marant’s pre fall collection. This is how I want to dress every day, in between season’s simple, comfortable clothes. I love all the outfits here, have already taken some ideas from these pictures, you can say I love them 99% the only 1% are those Stan Smith exact replica sneakers. Really is that necessary to copy something exactly, exactly the same? Sure they are having their success but some variation could be nice. I am not a big fan of Stan Smith’s really, I feel there are so many more alternatives, of very similar designs of a much more elegant all white sneaker. Take for example Common Projects sneakers, or Saint Laurent. Yes they are more expensive, but less trendy, in fact not trendy at all. I know some of you are big fans of Stan Smith sneakers and I hope you won’t kill me for what I just wrote, but this is the way I see it.

They actually look just like the Stan Smith’s. It’s weird that IM copy paste a product, dont you think? I’m not a big fan either, but just because ‘ve seen them everywhere for the past year and I’ sick of them. But I used to have them when I was a teenager and I loved them. At least this model is white and basic, and maybe they will replace those ugly wedge sneakers that have been threatening our eyes for the last two winters! By the way, I would have bet you liked those sneakers because they are so simple and classic Trini!

I agree with you on everything specially oh those hideous wedge sneakers, god those really did some damage! And yes it’s weird that she could copy paste, but then again I guess it is getting an habit today so maybe the design team thinks they can get away with it…I don’t know! I still like her designs though.
About Stan Smith’s I think I had some similar sneaker not sure it was Stan Smith’s cause they were around for decades before I was born, but a similar style with velcro…not sure about the brand, but I was very very little so I don’t really remember well but what bothers me the most about this particular model is for starter that it has become trendy more than a reinvention of a classic, everyone and their mother has it, and I hate when that happens. And second the color section at the back of the sneaker…no no no I like mine 100% white, specially in that style (harder, more sturdy material). The theory of the design is great, but it just doesn’t work for me the way Adidas made it, I like so much more the take SLP and CP gave to the same style/design.

Interesting discussion. Ms. Marant’s designs aren’t all that original (and I’m a fan of her brand). I thought I was the only one in the world who didn’t like those wedge sneakers! I mean, who wants to look like they’re clumping around in horse hooves? :D

I’m old enough to remember Stan Smiths the first time around but I was a little too young to convince my parents to buy me a pair. So I ordered some online a few weeks ago but they fit so wide that they didn’t work out for me.

I do love the ones by Common Projects but they also fit large and it seems I’d need to go down to a 35 which might be tough to find. Sigh.

Right now, I’m wearing the Vince “Blair” skate sneakers — the cheapo version of Celine who copied the originals.

There’s really nothing new in fashion, is there? :)

This black and white campaign is really perfect! I love Isabel Marant, but I agree with you about the replica
