Spring 2014: Outfit 13

Today i’m wearing one of my favorite dresses ever. I’ve had it for a couple of years now, and I can’t stop wearing it like crazy. Besides another (fancier) LBD this would be top on my list. The fabric though is thick so it makes it perfect for fall/winter/spring, but summer is a big no no with this dress. What I love the most about it is the versatility. When I saw it in the store immediately tons of outfit ideas starting flowing through my mind, and it was clear to me it would be a great investment. Over two years later, i’m so happy I did, it has become my go-to dress whenever I don’t want to think too much on what i’m wearing (which is pretty often by the way). I have worn it with flats, heels, boots, wedges, you name it, and of course it looks great with any type of tights for winter, and almost every coat I own. To me that is the first characteristic that defines a great garment: VERSATILITY.

I’m wearing: Ray-Ban classic wayfarer sunglasses, Sandro dress, The Kooples leather jacket and Chanel both flats and bag.

Inspiration: Anna Karina

As a huge Godard fan, I am deeply inspired by his movies and his muses. A while back I posted about Jean Seberg, now its time to talk about Anna Karina.  She married Godard and starred in a number of his films. I can’t explain the love I feel when a movie has good wardrobe I can relate to, and most of Jean-Luc Godard’s films (maybe all of them) have this characteristic. Her wardrobe as you may observe in the pictures above is extremely feminine and almost childish quite similar to Seberg’s. Of course its the 1960’s and that was a main characteristic in fashion at that time, but it’s more than just the clothing or hair or makeup, it’s the way of moving, gestures, voices, small details that this women he picked for his movies had/have that make the whole aesthetic of his films so much more appealing than any others of the same era.

Spring finally settles in, and the days get warmer. Now for warmer days I don’t know why I tend to gravitate towards lighter bags even though I usually need to add up more things into it (bottle of water, etc).

This cute mini bag by Carven is the perfect hands free bag, when you want to go lighter it’s just perfect and of course the shape adds a nice fun vibe to any outfit so I could not resist it, when in Paris.

I’m wearing: Ray-Ban classic wayfarer sunglasses, The Kooples jumper, jeans and blazer, Chanel flats and Carven bag.

For a more affordable alternative you can find a cute round bag HERE .
