Some of my favorite denim garments ever made come from Stella McCartney’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection. I am lucky enough to own two garments from this collection, one of which is the skirt I am wearing here.
Now this wonderful piece has been recreated many times, I first saw one last year by Topshop, and this year we have a very similar one by Alexa Chung for AG Denim collection. To be honest I am a little disappointed each time this happens, a wonderful garment being reproduced over and over again by so many labels most people won’t know who started it. I think of how refreshing it would be to have different basic, classic garments, every season instead of more almost identical versions of the same thing. Of course there is nothing we can do, this is a business on top of all the creative aspects, but on the positive side it could be worse. At least in this case it is a beautiful classic piece being re-made instead of an ugly one.

Discontinued Chanel bags, there a ton more, but I focused on the most popular ones. May I add that there are rumors as to the Grand Shopping Tote (GST) being discontinued and for what I could find out that is simply NOT TRUE.

Just updated with the new bags for Spring Summer 2015. As you know Chanel seasonal bags are very volatile, so most likely none of them will make it into a classic. Do you like them?

Acabo de actualizar con los nuevos bolsos para esta temporada Primavera Verano 2015. Como sabéis los bolsos de temporada de Chanel son muy volátiles y esporádicos, es decir que solo están a la venta por muy poco, y luego desaparecen para siempre. También vale mencionar que su precio baja drásticamente (al revender) muy en contra de los bolsos clásicos que se venden por precios bastante altos. 
To finish for all of you not very familiar with the system of Chanel, this is how it works. Chanel prices go up every year, at least once, depending on the model but usually a 10% maybe more, which is quite a lot compared to other brands. The whole point of this price increase is to become more in the line of Hermes and exclude certain clients, and become bags affordable only to very few. In my opinion as long as there is second hand stores, I doubt they will achieve it, but I totally get where they are coming from. If everyone was wearing Chanel, then the brand would loose some of its appeal don’t you think?

Para terminar, os cuento el sistema de funcionamiento de los precios de Chanel. Cada año los precios suben un 10% generalmente más, lo que es bastante comparado con otras marcas. La razón de estas alzas de precio es que su meta es parecerse lo más posible a Hermes, es decir quieren ser la marca de un muy reducido grupo de gente y al subir los precios, cada año, van recortando mas su clientela. En mi opinión aunque la idea me parece más que lógica y la apoyo (si todo el mundo llevase Chanel parte de su atractivo se perdería), no creo que este funcionando ni vaya a funcionar mientras exista el negocio de segunda mano, que cada vez crece más.

Instead of showing the actual runway looks, today I decided to focus on the details. As much as I love Chanel, I am not very fond of the styling, it is very anti-Coco really, too much, always. Almost all the garments are exquisite but I think the appreciation of them gets lost with all the fuzz going on with the added elements, and sometimes even the background. And that is the case in this collection as well. Now of course what do I expect? It’s couture. But still I can find what’s classic and beautiful in it, and that is shown in these pictures, the close up, the details.

En vez de mostrar los conjuntos en la pasarela esta vez he decidido centrarme en los detalles. Por mucho que adoro Chanel, no soy muy fan de los estilismos en los defiles, es muy anti-Coco la verdad, muy recargado, siempre. Aunque casi todas las prendas son una maravilla, no pueden ser apreciadas adecuadamente con toda la fiesta de excesos distrayendo, y no voy a entrar en detalles sobre los fondos. Es el caso en casi todas las colecciones, creo que podrían salvarse unas cuantas.
Ahora por supuesto no se que esperaba, es couture. Pero aún así se pueden encontrar imágenes que reflejan elementos clásicos y todo aquello esta en los detalles.
